Freshman with Entire Bookstore-Bought Wardrobe Puts Tape Over Russell Logos
By Otto Foots
CAMPUS — Zach Henderson (COL ’12), whose married, well-educated, and extremely loving parents bought him his entire wardrobe, all of which includes Georgetown emblems and references to its sports teams, at the University bookstore last August, had a personal crisis after finding out Georgetown cut its ties to Russell Athletics, causing him to cover the clothes manufacturer’s logos on all of his apparel. “It’s just, uh, so wrong that they did that, I think, right?” said the Long Island native from an upper-middle-class background who is neither a member of the Georgetown Solidarity Committee nor has ever formulated opinions on sweatshops, trade unions, or poverty. “I can’t believe it, and I’m going to have to ask my mom to send me another roll of black electrical tape in the next care package.” After a classmate sitting next to him at a lecture Tuesday let Henderson know he had a piece of tape stuck to his shirt, sources say the freshman thanked the girl, sheepishly removed the tape, and has begun to wear all of his clothes inside-out.
